NORTHAMPTON COUNTY
VIRTUAL TOWN HALL: The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) will hold a virtual town hall meeting on the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 for municipal leaders March 25, from 9-10 a.m.
Speakers will include Lamont McClure, Senator Bob Casey Jr., Representative Susan Wild, Senator Mario Scavello (PA District 40), Senator Lisa Boscola (PA District 18) and Fadia Halma, the regional director of Pennsylvania DCED. Speakers may be added and/or subject to change.

CORNOR’S REPORT: Between Jan. 1 and March 16, the Northampton County Coroner recorded 137 COVID-19 related deaths in Northampton County (114 residents/23 non-residents). As of March 14, the Lehigh County Coroner reported 57 deaths of Northampton County residents. Between the two counties, 171 deaths of Northampton County residents from COVID-19 have been reported this year.
“With spring weather approaching, I know people are eager to get out and socialize in groups,” says Lamont McClure. “But COVID-19 is still active in our area. I urge everyone to keep wearing a mask, maintain a social distance of six feet when possible and get the vaccine when it becomes available.”
In 2020, the Northampton County Coroner reported 403 COVID-19 related deaths (359 residents and 44 non-residents). The Lehigh County Coroner reported 118 deaths in 2020 for a total of 477 COVID-19-related deaths for Northampton County residents.
