LVHN named by Fortune best healthcare workplace
Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) has been named one of the “2021 Best Workplaces in Health Care & Biopharma”™ by Great Place to Work® and Fortune.
During a global pandemic that put healthcare organizations on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19, LVHN stood out for creating a great workplace experience for its nearly 20,000 healthcare professionals in the Lehigh Valley region.
Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, polled more than 825,000 employees in healthcare and biopharma to determine what makes a healthcare organization the best places to work. Its culture of trust and the positive things colleagues said about working at LVHN when surveyed align with what makes a great workplace.
“Our colleagues are dedicated to providing amazing care every day, even during the most challenging circumstances,” said Lynn Turner, LVHN Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer.
“This inspires us to continue building a culture that truly cares for them so they can have the best possible work experience from hire to retire,” Turner said.
During the pandemic, LVHN has provided support to colleagues in a variety of ways. Child- and elder-care resources, flexible scheduling, additional “wellness time” off, and the ability to rollover extra paid time off (PTO) or donate PTO to colleagues in need helped LVHN’s health care professionals cope with the stresses of a pandemic.
LVHN also provides numerous other benefits and opportunities that contributed to its position on the Fortune list. These include:
• LVHN’s Action Against Racism and Advancing Equity Council, which offers forums for colleagues to share experiences and thoughts on diversity and inclusion.
• My Total Health, LVHN’s comprehensive health and wellness program for colleagues, features health coaching sessions, action plans to tackle wellness goals, online classes in mindfulness, incentives to participate in wellness activities, free membership to LVHN Fitness centers and more.
“Facing the daunting challenges of a pandemic, our colleagues stabilized our health network and furthered our mission to heal, comfort, and care for the people of our community,” said Brian A. Nester, DO, MBA, President and Chief Executive Officer, LVHN.
“Their perseverance will allow LVHN to continue to grow and add new members to our team, giving the people of our community even more convenient access to the quality care they need, expect and deserve. I truly believe our colleagues are heroes. They saved the day,” Nester said.
