David Kennedy seeks seat as South Whitehall commissioner

David Kennedy has announced his candidacy for commissioner of South Whitehall Township.

“Over the past year, I have watched in disbelief as the board of commissioners’ meetings devolved into personal attacks rather than discussions to improve our government in a public forum,” Kennedy said. “Under current leadership, the majority of the board consistently rejects common sense proposals regarding financial accountability and transparency, including the volunteer appointment process and waivers for massive developments.

“Simply put: the current leadership of the board has failed to put the people of South Whitehall first.”

Kennedy says despite present challenges, he is hopeful for the future of South Whitehall under new leadership.

“If elected, I commit to being a leader who brings positive change to South Whitehall. I am a multi-issue candidate, as I believe in improving all aspects of life in South Whitehall,” Kennedy said. “I pledge to hold developers to our current SALDO requirements while also preserving farmland and green space.

“I am determined to protect your tax dollars and make sure our first responders and other employees have the resources necessary to keep our community safe.

“This can be accomplished through the encouragement of open, respectful debate among elected officials and the public.

“I firmly believe we should never allow partisan politics to distract from the work of the board of commissioners, because our duty is to serve all residents of our community regardless of their political affiliations.”

Kennedy says he is proud to call South Whitehall Township his home for the past 31 years.

“My wife Elizabeth and I have been married for 48 years with two sons: David Jr. (deceased) and Scott, both Parkland graduates,” Kennedy said.

“I have always had a passion for serving this community, and have done so as a member of the South Whitehall Public Safety Commission and the Parkland School Board for 25 and 22 years, respectively.

“It would be a great honor to serve the people of South Whitehall Township as your next commissioner.”
