An Emmaus motorist escaped injury in a hit and run accident in which her Nissan SUV struck a concrete barrier and a guard rail along Interstate 78, Salisbury Township, 4:23 p.m. Feb. 16, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist, a 23-year-old female, was traveling in the center lane of Interstate 78 westbound when another vehicle traveling in the right lane attempted to merge into the center lane. The Emmaus motorist swerved into the left lane to avoid a crash, lost control and collided with a barrier on the left shoulder. The vehicle then veered across all traffic lanes, onto the right shoulder and into the guard rail. The first car did not stop and continued westbound. Yocum Towing and Recovery also responded.
A Catasauqua motorist escaped injury when his BMW sports car spun numerous times soon after leaving an on-ramp on Interstate 78, Salisbury Township, 2:53 p.m. Feb. 23, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist, a 43-year-old male, was traveling west to merge onto the interstate highway from the South Cedar Crest Boulevard on-ramp when he sped up and lost control in the center lane. The vehicle veered across the right lane and right shoulder where it hit a noise barrier, sending it spinning back onto the highway and across the center and right lanes.
