David G. Knerr, 86, of Catasauqua, died March 7, 2021, at Fellowship Manor. He was the husband of the late Jean M. (Labish) Knerr for 51 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of Winfield A. and Estelle (Reichenbach) Knerr.

He was a 1952 graduate of Catasauqua High School.

He was in the U.S. Army Reserves for seven years and earned the rank of staff sergeant.

He worked for Bethlehem Steel for 31 years as a clerk, shipper and assistant chief clerk until he retired in 1980. He then worked several part-time jobs.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church where he sang in the choir.

He was a member of Catasauqua Area Lions Club for 40 years. He was the secretary for seven years, president for two terms and was the zone chairman twice. He was chairman of Christmas meals for the elderly at St. Paul’s Church.

He is survived by three children, Kathaleen Stephen, Brenda Burger and her husband Jeffrey and Terri Ann Eder and her husband Paul; four grandsons, Patrick Kline, Christopher Knerr, Michael Knerr and Matthew Stephen; three granddaughters, Samantha Stephen, Shuli Eder and Shauna Eder; 10 great-grandchildren, Genevieve Kline, Margot Knerr, Emerson Knerr, Riley Knerr, Nolan Knerr, Elianna Stephen, Addilyn Stephen, Landon Stephen, Kataleya Silguero and Mateo Silguero; a daughter-in-law, Wilma; and two siblings, Lowell Knerr and JoAnn Lambert.

He was predeceased by a son, David M. Knerr; and a brother, Winfield Knerr.
