Coplay Public Library: Join the reading challenge with Coplay library

Want to join in our library’s contribution to reaching the goal in the Lehigh Valley Reads Million Minute Challenge? We have pledged to collectively read 10,000 minutes. Register at coplaypubliclibrary.org.beanstack.

Have a friendly competition with members of your family, friends, co-workers - or just encourage everyone to read.

You can even win digital badges of achievement for reaching milestones in your pledge goal.

This program, sponsored by Lehigh Valley Public Media PBS Channel 39 and the United Way of the Lehigh Valley, is free and open to all ages. Go to LVReads.org/Million for more information and registration.

Join our book club! The next meeting is 6-6:30 p.m. March 31 on Zoom.

The club chooses a theme, subject or author instead of all reading a specific title. The theme for March is bookstores and libraries - books that remind us there are still good things and places to go in the world.

Monthly meetings are posted on Facebook to discuss the book each member read. There is no pressure or judgment.

Join Miss Janice for storytime 11 a.m. Thursday mornings on Facebook Live. She even demonstrates a craft for your child to make at home.

If you aren’t available at the scheduled time, use the video links on the library’s website for access to storytime at your convenience.

The library is open for all services. You are welcome to browse the collection, borrow, request and return materials, copy or fax, use a computer and other services. Computer time has increased to two hours per person.

Current hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Masks are required and must be worn correctly while you are in the building. You will be required to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when entering and leaving the building or to wear gloves. Hand sanitizer and gloves will be provided.

While these measures may seem burdensome, we want the materials to be safe for everyone, including your family at home. With the increase in coronavirus variants, we are trying to serve and protect our patrons as best as we can.

***

If you forget your mask or want another one, we have nonmedical, washable masks for sale in children’s and adults’ sizes.

***

We are continuing to offer curbside services for borrowing or returning materials for anyone who can’t wear a mask for a medical reason or is more comfortable staying outside.

You may place holds on materials directly on your account using the online catalog. We will also copy or fax items for you.

All other library resources are available online.

To request materials or for assistance or information regarding any of our services, call us at 610-262-7351, send an email to coplaypubliclibrary@gmail.com, check our Facebook page or visit our website at coplaypubliclibrary.org.

***

We are still keeping returned materials in quarantine for seven days. The Lehigh-Carbon Library Cooperative is requiring all member libraries to follow this protocol, which is based on scientific information about the coronavirus on library materials.

Please be patient if you are waiting for a hold.

You can read your favorite magazine, try a new one or borrow books without leaving your house - just use the Libby app or the Overdrive website on your own devices. More than 14,000 e-books, e-audios and e-magazines are available.

Go to the library’s website and use your library card number and password to access Overdrive in the E-Resources tab or download Libby to your device.

If you need help with your password, call the library at 610-262-7351.

Overdrive added titles for simultaneous use in both fiction and nonfiction on the Libby app.

This free offer will be available until the end of the year. That means no waiting for these materials. There are children’s and adult e-books and audiobooks.

One featured subject area is Black Lives Matter.

For those who use the Zinio magazine service, it is no longer available through LCLC. Zinio/RB Digital was purchased by Overdrive, so the items are now located in Overdrive and Libby.

Access to your current items in RB Digital will end on or before March 31.
