William A. Elek III, 79, of Lower Saucon Township, died recently at his residence. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late William A. Elek Jr. and Ann (Longo) Elek. He was the husband of Jeanne (Danek) Elek for 53 years.
He was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic HS where he was an athlete. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Mary’s College, where he was the class president and captain of the soccer team.
He was in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
He worked in management and consulting for 37 years with the Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He worked for the family business, Elek Plumbing, until his retirement.
He was active with the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Bethlehem, where he was on numerous committees; two men’s prayer groups, helped to prepare meals and supported Victory House community.
He volunteered at the Lehigh University Golf Learning Center. He coached children’s sporting events.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kirsten Singley and her fiancé Jeffrey Cary, Brittany Azzolina and her husband Joseph and Regan Palazzo and her husband Michael; a son, William A. IV and his wife Fabiana; a brother, Stephen and his wife Kathleen; and 10 grandchildren, Madelyn, Grace, Emma, Elise, Sarah, Dante, Marco, Liliana, Crew and Kai.
He was predeceased by a sister, Anita Zambelli.
