Stanley Joseph Sockel, 67, of Upper Macungie Township, died on Feb. 26, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He and his wife, Lori (Kreidler) Sockel, would have been married for 30 years in April.
Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Stanley and Mary (DeMaria) Sockel.
A 1971 graduate of Hazleton High School and a 1975 graduate of Penn State University, he was a civil engineer, employed by PPL for 35 years before retiring in 2015.
He currently was working part time for Liberty Consulting Group.
He received his professional engineer’s license in 1980 and had his Pennsylvania Real Estate license more than 30 years.
Raised in Kelayres, he was a proud member of the Kelayres Outdoor Club.
He attended Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, breakfast with friends, trips to Costco, Corvettes, playing the guitar, PSU football and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.
Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family in Ocean City, N.J., where he served on their condominium board.
He was a devoted son, wonderful husband and great father. He will always be missed and never forgotten.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Stephen L. Sockel of Allentown; in-laws, Lee and Barbara Kreidler, of Allentown; and many cousins and good friends.
His service will be private. A celebration of his life will be held post COVID.
