PBS39 promotes reading at Cetronia Elementary

Special to The Press

Celebrating Reading Awareness Month, PBS39, the Lehigh Valley’s Public TV station and the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, visited four regional elementary schools to promote reading skills among elementary school students.

The goal of the program is to ensure all children are able to read at grade level by the end of third grade.

Locally, Cetronia Elementary School was chosen as one of the four schools to be visited by the PBS39 team.

The team, accompanied by “Corey,” and PBS39’s Education Explorer, will be delivering reading materials to each school visited.

Read Across America is held on the birthday of Dr. Theodore Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.

His many children’s books have helped youngsters to improve their reading skills beginning with his first children’s book “And to Think I saw it on Mulberry Street.”

He wrote a total of 60 books, many of which became the inspiration for television shows, movies and even a Broadway play.
