To the Editor:
It just never ends. The Northampton school district is planning another tax increase. The budget proposals listed five separate increase amounts but no decrease amounts.
The district also wants to build a new administrative and school campus on Route 329 in East Allen Township. Simply put, I don’t think we need any new schools, and I don’t think we taxpayers can afford any more tax increases. What happened to all the tax money from the warehouses in the district?
The district should focus on educating the students and live within its means instead of expanding the privileged district empire. More money doesn’t work. More accountability will work.
And for all the complaining about charter schools, maybe one should ask why so many parents prefer charter schools over the traditional public schools? Could it be the quality of education?
It’s past time for government education leaders to get with the program and do what’s best for the students. The tax well has gone dry.
