Celebrating 100 days of school

Northampton Borough Elementary students celebrated their 100th day of school by dressing up as 100-year-olds last month. Although the event had to be rescheduled a few times due to snow, students in the Siegfried building eagerly showed off their sweaters, glasses and hair curlers for their jump in time.

This year, Principal Renee Sallit has made it a point to celebrate the little things and to find the silver linings during difficult times.

Currently, some students operate on a hybrid system that has both virtual and in-person learning options, making the halls seem extra quiet with the student population split between learning options, while other students have made a return to in-person classes four days a week. Elementary school students in kindergarten through second grade returned March 9. Elementary school students in third through fifth grades, as well as Northampton Area Middle School sixth-grade students, will return March 23.

However, despite the challenges and changes, the students have remained strong and have come eager to learn this year. With their motto of patience and grace, they have been able to rise above any COVID-19 obstacles.
