Hattie Elizabeth Smith, 96, of Emmaus, died on Feb. 22, 2021.

She was the widow of Howard E. Smith, who died in 1979.

Born April 19, 1924 in Kunkletown, she was the daughter of the late George and Mabel (Frey) Schaller.

A member of Solomon’s United Church of Christ, Macungie, she was an active member of Blue Ridge Trail Council 179.

Before retiring, she worked on the Smith Family Farm and at Saucony Shoe Factory.

Her survivors include daughters Doris H. Weisner-Miller (Russell) of Kempton, Irene M. (Timothy) Betz of Catasauqua, Jean Mae Smith of Alburtis, Edith E. (Roger) Knappenberger of Coopersburg, Faye M. (Thomas) Foulk of New Tripoli, Shirley S. Smith, at home, and Joyce G. Smith of Macungie; siblings Arlan P. (Edna) Schaller of Delaware, Kermit W. (Sandy) Schaller of Colorado, Erma I. Rothenberger, Esther S. (Claude) Kelly and Viola R. Bartholomew, all of Allentown; 19 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brothers Ernest, Melvin, Luther and Willis Schaller; sisters Mildred Anthony, Grace Sweigart and Gladys Schaller; granddaughter Jyl Hieter; grandson Woodrow Hieter III; and great-grandson Jonathan Bauer.
