William “Zip” Firman, 90, formerly of Whitehall and a resident at Renaissance Home, Northampton, died Feb. 16, 2021. He was the husband of the late Ann Chromiak.
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of Constantine and Mary Lagosky Firman.
He was a standout football player at Coaldale High School. He earned an invitation to play at the college level at Rider University, N.J.
He was in the U.S. Army.
He worked for Mack Truck, Allentown.
He is survived by his daughter Debra and husband Thomas Melina of Massachusetts; a son, John Firman of Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Mathew and Meghan Melina of Massachusetts; and a great-grandson, Wesley James Melina of Massachusetts; and nieces and nephews, including Karen Kusko, Michael Kusko, Elaine Hilt and William Torick. He also had two brothers, Walter and Michael.
