Caroline (Lena) Marushak Yastrzab, 96, of Northampton, died Feb. 11, 2021, at Sacred Heart Senior Living, Northampton. She was the wife of the late John Carl Yastrzab Sr.
Born in Laurys Station, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Gladish) Marushak.
She was a 1943 graduate of South Whitehall High School.
She worked at Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation during World War II. She then worked in the office at Mack Trucks, Allentown, until she retired in 1951.
She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, and the former St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, both in Northampton. She was a lifetime member of the Altar and Rosary Society and in later years was in charge of making pierogies for fundraising. She was a current active member of Queenship of Mary Church.
She was a lifetime member of the Northampton Area Historical Society and one of the 1975 founding members.
She is survived by a son, John Jr.; two daughters, Phyllis Yastrzab and Monica and her husband Robert Kempf; two grandchildren, Jacob and Dana; nieces; and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Amelia Hutnick; and five brothers, Michael, John, Stephen, Joseph and Edward.
There will be a calling time 8:15-9:15 a.m. Feb. 20 in the funeral home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton, followed by a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m. at Queenship of Mary Church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. Kindly practice social distancing and wear a face cover. The Mass will also be livestreamed on the church’s YouTube channel.
