Angeline R. Montesano

Angeline R. “Cale” (Caleguire) Montesano, 98, of Country Meadows, Allentown, formerly of Upper Darby, died Feb. 14, 2021, under hospice care at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Montesano with whom she shared 61 years of marriage prior to his death in 2011. Born in Baltimore, Md. and raised in Shenandoah, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Antonia (Pane) Caleguire.

She was a graduate of Mount Sinai School of Nursing, South Philadelphia. She worked for over 40 years, first as a registered nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital and later was the executive director for South Philadelphia Medical Group.

She is survived by a son, Joseph and his wife, Dr. Lillian Weekes, of Zionsville; a grandson, Gregory and his wife, Elizabeth, of Hellertown; great-granddaughters, Emma Joyce and Cecilia Marie; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Ralph Spagolio, Benjamin Spagolio and Patrick Caleguire; sisters, Catherine Kelly and Rose Michalik. In addition, she was the “overbearing Italian mother” to the late Barry Kelly and Bruce Berr.

A Mass will be held 2:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at St. Thomas More Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown, 18103. Call 1 to 2:15 p.m. Feb. 19 in the church. COVID-19 restrictions will be observed and masks are required. Livestream of the funeral can be accessed on the parish website at stmchurchallentown.org, then proceed to the YouTube link under the Mass Times section.
