Campus recieves Sanofi food pantry grant

Penn State Lehigh Valley received a $10,000 grant from Sanofi in December 2020, to support its Student Emergency Fund and LionShare Food Pantry. The funds support the campus’s most vulnerable students. More than half of college students reported that due to COVID-19-related disruptions to their or their family’s incomes, they can no longer afford tuition, according to a OneClass survey done last summer.

P.S.U. -L.V. provided more than $5,000 in assistance to students toward rent, transportation, utility bills and tuition since March 2020. The campus given some students grocery store gift certificates, also.

Northampton Community College

Local NSLS inducts members

Eleven local residents were inducted recently into the National Society of Leadership and Success at Northampton Community College during a virtual ceremony. The new Bethlehem area members are Hope Barnes, social work major; Daniel Belles, automotive technology major; Kassandra Cuevas, communication design major; Kylie Hayes, environmental science major; Anthony Indelicato, general studies major; Bethany Latham, general studies major; Alyssa Moore, fine art major; Hannah Ryan, general studies major; Tracy Tyson, early childhood education major; Irena Wimmer, media production major; and Milissa Zeller, social work major.

The NSLS provides a leadership program to help students achieve personal growth and career success. NSLS is the only honor society to offer accredited leadership training and certification.

Pharmacy tech training, exam prep offered

Northampton Community College will hold a pharmacy technician training and exam preparation course from 7:30 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 23 through April 1, on a virtual platform online. The course is preparatory for entry level position in a retail pharmacy setting, those working in the field who would like to expand employment opportunities or for CPhT certification exam preparation.

Pharmacy technicians perform work delegated by a licensed pharmacist in accordance with state rules and regulations. Those who pass the ExCPT exam are granted the title of Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The ExCPT exam is offered through the National Health Career Association (NHA) and is NCCA approved.
