Walter L. Bortz, 94, of Lower Macungie Township, died Feb. 1, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Jean E. (Kale) Bortz. They were married for 72 years. Born in Macungie, he was the son of the late Daniel E. and Sarah (Adams) Bortz.

He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad for 21 years and later worked as a diesel mechanic for MoPak in Souderton until retiring in 1989.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Union Church.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Brenda wife of the late Frederick Hirschel, of Macungie; a brother, Howard and his wife, Shirley, of Emmaus; grandchildren, James and Korey; a great-granddaughter, Brittney.
