Syman N. Hirsch, 84, of South Whitehall Township, died Jan. 26, 2021. He was the husband of Anita Hirsch for 61 years.
Born in Plainfield, N.J., he was the son of the late Dorothy and Leo Hirsch.
He graduated from Moravian College and earned a master’s degree from Seton Hall University.
He served in the Army National Guard of New Jersey.
He taught English and social studies at Hubbard Junior High School for 10 years and was the vice principal of Quakertown High School for eight years. He was a writer for Parkland Press for many years.
He was first an assistant baseball coach, then the baseball coach, at the junior high for many years.
He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans. He was the program chairman for many years with the JCC Friendship Circle. He was also a board member of the Parkland School District Education Foundation.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael; a daughter, Leanne; a sister-in-law, Maxine Hirsch; a nephew, Charles Hirsch with Carol and their children, Sam and Annie; and a niece, Robin Friedman and her children, Hannah and Lily.
He was predeceased by his brother, Stuart.
Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements were made by Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
