Parents notified of additional reported COVID cases in WCSD

Whitehall-Coplay School District continues to notify families of positive COVID-19 cases in the district.

A notification sent Feb. 1 reported one new student and two new staff cases. The student attends Zephyr Elementary School and was last in school Jan. 26.

One staff member works at Zephyr Elementary and was last in school Jan. 28. The other staff member works at Gockley Elementary School and was last in school Jan. 29.

Three additional student cases were reported Feb. 3.

One case is a Zephyr student who was last in school Jan. 22, another is a Whitehall-Coplay Middle School student who was last in school Jan. 19 and the third is a Whitehall High School student who was last in school Jan. 29.

A Feb. 4 notification reported one new staff case and three student cases. The staff member works at WCMS and was last in school Jan. 29.

Two of the student cases are from Zephyr. One student was last in school Jan. 12, and the other was Jan. 29. The third case is a WHS student who was last in school Jan. 12.

A Feb. 8 notification reported one new staff case and six additional student cases. The staff member works at WCMS and was last in school Jan. 29.

One student attends WCMS and another attends WHS. Both students were last in school Jan. 29.

Two of the students attend Steckel Elementary School. One was last in school Jan. 21 and the other Jan. 29. The other two students attend Gockley Elementary, and one was last in school Jan. 21 and the other Jan. 29.

The notifications inform families the district will work with Pennsylvania Department of Health to monitor the cases.

“Based on this information, the district will continue to monitor the situation very closely, as it may impact our instructional delivery in the future,” the notifications state, regarding Lehigh County being in the substantial category for community transmission.

Families are encouraged to be diligent about monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms and to use the WCSD student screening card, available on the website at whitehallcoplay.org.
