Mildred P.”Milly” Bortz, 71, of Macungie, died Feb. 6, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, in the presence of her devoted husband Barry D. Bortz. They were married for 48 years last September. Born in Bryn Mawr, she was the daughter of the late Robert N. and Margaret F. (Schwartz) Peterson. She grew up in Wilmington, Del. She was a kind, loving and caring wife, mother and homemaker.

She graduated from Alexis I. du Pont High School. She enjoyed reading, walking, music, gardening and movies. She had fond memories of Vermont, Longport and Bermuda.

She was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Trexlertown.

Her message to others was to have confidence in yourself, don’t be afraid to make mistakes and keep your heart and mind open.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Barry William “Will,” of Macungie and sisters, Mary T. and her husband, Michael D. Colhoun, of Ketchum, Idaho and Patricia F. and her husband, Thomas M. Skelly, of West Palm Beach, Fla.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Feb. 12 at the J. S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton streets, Allentown. A calling hour will be held 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service in the funeral home.
