In the wake of a Feb. 2 catastrophic roof collapse at Hampton Lanes and the Hammerhead Lounge, 326 Main St., Northampton, due to a heavy snowfall, Coplay Saengerbund extended an offer to those who bowl in Hampton Lanes leagues.
During the three-day snowstorm Jan. 31-Feb. 2, more than 2 feet accumulated across most of the Lehigh Valley.
The weight of the snow brought down the roof of the Northampton bowling alley and caused significant damage to the interior of the building.
Hampton Lanes was forced to close before the end of the bowling league season, leaving several leagues and many bowlers without a place to bowl.
Kevin Fritz, Saengerbund president, and Marc Beichy, Saengerbund bowling commissioner, offered the current Hampton Lanes bowling leagues the opportunity to complete their season at Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., Coplay.
Both Fritz and Beichy said Mondays and Tuesdays are open for the Hampton leagues to use the space.
“There are multiple options to assist a number of Hampton Lanes leagues in finishing their season,” Beichy noted.
“This is a win-win situation,” Fritz said.
