Arlene R. Miller
Arlene R. Miller, 96, formerly of Orefield, died Feb. 5, 2021, in Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown.
She was the wife of the late Elwood F.E. Miller, who died in 1996.
Born Sept. 30, 1924, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Arthur R. and Lila R. (Bernhard) Meckes.
In her youth, she was a cheerleader at the former South Whitehall High School.
During World War II, she worked at Mack Trucks and was honored with a “Rosie the Riveter” award for her wartime service.
She later worked at the former Nanette Mfg., Allentown, for 10 years and also at Orefield Park-Mart for several years before retiring.
A member of Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church, Orefield, she was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Tri-Clover Fire Company, Orefield, and a life member of Community Fire Co. No. 1, Schnecksville, assisting with bingo at both fire stations.
She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Her survivors include children Judith A. Moll (Alfred) of Allentown, Kermit F. Miller (Kathy) of Whitehall, Terry L. Miller (Joanne) of Palm Coast, Fla., and Sandra J. Daniels (Pete Hyrowich) of Orefield; stepson Elwood D. Miller (Mary Ellen) of Orefield; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by siblings Warren, Joyce and Anna Mae, and a stepdaughter, Dolores.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Feb. 11 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc. 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dody S. Siegfried officiating.
Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Allentown.
