Alton H.S. Ringer, 90, of North Whitehall Township, formerly of Whitehall Township, died Feb. 3, 2021, in the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Brenda Ringer.
He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Marcks) Ringer.
Born Oct. 6, 1930, in Whitehall Township, he was the son of the late Roy H. and Verna A. (Hahn) Ringer.
A lifelong farmer in Whitehall Township, he was well known for growing potatoes, before retiring in 2004.
Active in the life of his church, he was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mickleys, Whitehall, where he served as past president and treasurer of the consistory and participated in the church bowling league winning numerous trophies and meeting his future wife.
He was currently serving on the board of directors of St. John’s Union Cemetery Association, Mickleys.
His love of farming was only surpassed by the joy he received from spending time with his grandchildren.
His survivors include a son Peter A. Ringer and his wife, Brenda S., of North Whitehall Township; grandchildren Matthew Ringer and his fiancée, Gabriella Smith, and Stephanie and Jacob Ringer.
He was predeceased by siblings Daniel R. Ringer, Ruth V. Rabert and Leona M. Helfrich.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, a private funeral service will be held at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Schnecksville. There will be no public calling hours.
Interment will follow the service at St. John’s Union Cemetery, Mickleys, Whitehall.
