EHS students earn Gold and Silver Key Awards in Scholastic Art and Writing Competition

Emmaus High School students earned Gold and Silver Key Awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.
Art teachers Lisa Caruso, Tracy Maley, Alexis Soboleski and Katie Pfenninger recently announced the awardees. They also wished the Gold Key winners luck in the national competition.
The Scholastic Art and Writing Competition is the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Students in seventh through 12th grade can apply in 28 categories of art and writing. Despite the challenges of online schooling, EHS art students managed to be recognized for their artistic talent.
The winners’ artwork will be displayed at the Marlin And Regina Miller Gallery in the Sharadin Arts building at Kutztown University March 6-21. The gallery will be open to the public 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 2-4 p.m. Sundays. There will be a virtual ceremony March 21 and links will be posted via the district’s social media.
A video and catalog will be available to the public. Gold Key winners announced in March will compete in the national contest.

Lindsay Ott – Gold Key Portfolio (collection of six works), American Visions Nominee, two Gold Keys for individual works, Silver Key and an honorable mention.
Mercedes Wagaman – Two Gold Keys and an American Visions nominee
Sadie Kennedy – Two Gold Keys and a Silver Key
Stephanie Klemick – Two Silver Keys and two honorable mentions
Sean O’Rourke – Gold Key, Silver Key, an honorable mention
Andee Korpics – Gold Key, two Honorable Mentions
Aaliyah Charlot – Silver Portfolio (collection of six pieces), three Silver Keys
Tallulah Anderson – Honorable Mention
Abigale Barnes – Silver Key and an honorable mention
