Samuel Crout- hamel, 73, died Jan. 24, 2021, at Cedar Crest Hospital. He was the husband of the late of Faith Crouthamel for 38 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Loretta Cook and Samuel Crouthamel.
He was a 1965 graduate of Whitehall High School.
He was in the U.S. Marines from 1967 to 1969. He was an armored personnel carrier mechanic during a tour of duty in Vietnam.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Catasauqua, and later of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Northampton.
He was a mechanic at several Lehigh Valley businesses. In 1982, he opened Sac’s Citgo Automotive Services in Coplay. He later closed the station and drove tractor-trailers. He was a driving instructor for the state of Pennsylvania at Lehigh County Community College.
He was a longtime member of Ranger Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by two sons, David Dougherty and his wife Valerie of Pittsburgh and Scott Dougherty and his wife Lynn of Omaha; a sister, Mary Genovese and her husband Jim of Northampton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
