Last year was notorious for the fires that raged across Australia, the Amazon and even the western United States. While Allen Township may not have experienced anything nearly as big, it was no stranger to fires.
The Allen Township Board of Supervisors met Jan. 12 to discuss reports from 2020. One of these reports was from the fire department.
In 2020, the fire department responded to 442 alarms - 46 of those were in December alone.
The cost of fire damage totaled around $321,800, but a large part of that was due to an early-morning fire on Rockefeller Lehigh Industrial Development’s lot 5 in April.
With the chaos of the pandemic, 2020 was a hard year for many departments. The fire department thanked the board for the financial support.
