William M. “Taters” Nicholas, 76, of New Tripoli, died Jan. 25, 2021, in The Lutheran Home at Topton.

The loving husband of Susan J. (Handwerk) Nicholas, the couple celebrated 54 years of marriage in February 2020.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late William A. and Mary Ann (Skolinsky) Nicholas.

A 1962 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, and a 1966 graduate of Muhlenberg College, Allentown, he was a self-employed potato farmer for many years and later worked as a mechanic for the Blue Ridge Country Club, Palmerton.

In addition to his devoted wife, his survivors include sons Shane A. (Michelle) Nicholas of Anthem, Ariz. and Michael A. (Emily) Nicholas of Ypsilanti, Mich.; grandchildren Amber, Andrew, Emily, Ash, Greta and Nell; sisters Carol Nicholas and Christine (Steven) Rowe, both of New Smithville; and brother Peter (Sharon) Nicholas of Schnecksville.

There will be a private celebration of life gathering at the convenience of the family.
