UPPER MACUNGIE TWP: Library offering variety of programs

Parkland Community Library, South Whitehall, will host Vicki Mayk for a reading of “Growing Up on the Gridiron: Football, Friendship and the Tragic Life of Owen Thomas,” a look into the author’s writing process, and a question-and-answer session 7 p.m. Feb. 2 on Zoom.
Attendees will be entered in a drawing for a signed copy of Mayk’s new book.
A Virtual Story Time with Miss Mary will be offered 10-10:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 and 10 via Zoom.
Miss Mary will read a story and there will be singing.
This story time is perfect for all ages but is geared toward kids age 5 and younger.
Join yoga instructor Deanna Nagle for her gentle yoga weekly series for adults 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 4 and Feb. 11 on Zoom,
She will guide participants through a range of motions to improve energy and focus, decrease pain in the body, and calm the central nervous system.
Library staff will host Iditarod Musher Karen Land and her dog team 6:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 on Zoom.
Learn how she and two of her dogs, Noggin and Chloe, compete in the exciting 1,000-mile race across the Alaskan wilderness.
A Virtual Teen Dungeon and Dragons Night Zoom meeting will be presented 6-8 p.m. Feb. 8 through the website R20 for students in seventh through 12th grade.
Adults join library staff for its Dive into Databases video series beginning 10:30 a.m. Feb. 9 on Facebook.
They will provide tips and simple instructions to unlocking database features.
The library’s Senior Book Club will meet to discuss the novel “The Nazi Officer’s Wife” by Edith Hahn Beer from 3-4 p.m. Feb. 9 on Zoom.
A LEGO Masters Show and Tell will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 via Zoom.
Every Monday staff will email participants a new LEGO challenge to be completed by the end of the week. Participants will have 2-3 minutes during the show and tell to share their creation and talk about their engineering process.
The Teen Virtual Anime Club for kids in grades six through 12 will meet 6:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 10 on Zoom to watch a selected anime episode through Crunchyroll or Funimation.
