Dorothy Mae Strohl, 98, formerly of Orefield, died Jan. 22, 2021, in Lehigh Center, Macungie.
She was the widow of Roderick G. Strohl.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late William and Louise (Guldeman) Dankel.
She graduated from the former Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and honorably served her country in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps as an ensign during World War II.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 298, was a Girl Scout Troop and Brownie Troop Leader, and a 4-H Leader for 20 years.
She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 25 years.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Fogelsville.
Her survivors include a daughter Barbara Bortz and husband, Don, of Mertztown; son Roderick, Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Annville; sisters-in-law Kathleen Kennedy and Janice Dankel; stepbrothers Richard Fehnel and Charles Fehnel and wife, Pauline; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, William Dankel Jr., a sister Marjorie Christman Derr, and a stepbrother, Henry Fehnel.
At her request there will be no service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
