Roughies Report: School board members lauded

Catasauqua Area School District Board of Education members are ordinary people who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to our school district. They volunteer hundreds of hours and an immeasurable amount of energy to assure the schools in our district are providing the best education possible for the children of our community.

January is School Board Recognition Month and the perfect time to acknowledge their service to our students and our communities, especially during one of the most complicated school years in U.S. history.

School board members are citizens whose decisions affect our children - what they learn and who will teach them. They represent each of us, and they take this responsibility seriously by attending lengthy, and sometimes challenging, meetings, conferences and forums where they expand their knowledge about education.

CASD board members understand the community’s unique problems, values, culture and circumstances. Too often, we neglect to recognize their dedication and hard work. Let’s all take a moment to recognize the value of their work to our students and our communities, to show our appreciation and to begin to better understand how they work together to provide leadership for our schools.
