Ernest A. Stewart, 90, of The Willows Senior Living of Macungie, formerly of Allentown, died Jan. 2, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospital due to COVID-19. He was the husband of the late Gail G. (Price) Stewart. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Harley S. and Doris E. (Peters) Stewart.
He was a switchman and cable splicer for Verizon for 32 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving as an Airman 1st Class during the Korean Conflict.
He was a lifetime member of Emmanuel U.C.C., Allentown where he served as a deacon, an elder and president of the Consistory.
He was a bus driver for the former Carl L. Bieber for 10 years.
He umpired for many years in the Lehigh Valley.
He was a member of the Howard L. Peter American Legion Post #576 and the Allentown AARP Chapter #5415. He was a member of New Temple Lodge #720 F.&A.M. and the Lehigh Valley Day Lodge #813 F.&A.M.
He was an avid golfer and loved to travel, including visiting all 50 states.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. and her husband, Barry D. Weibel, of Bethlehem; a stepdaughter, Terri L. Burger, of West Grove; a brother, Harley S. Jr. and his wife, Santa, of Northampton; granddaughters, Jennnifer Gnall, Courtney Gibbs, Cydney and Maya Webb and Elizabeth Stewart; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Grayson, Grace and Grant; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons, Scott R. in 1995, Lee H. in 2016 and a granddaughter, Marlee in 1989.
