Elizabeth “Bess” Koneski, 89, of Emmaus, died Jan. 18, 2021, four days short of her 90th birthday, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Anthony T. Koneski Sr. They were married for 69 years Dec. 29, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Marvin K. and Miriam (Dorward) Urffer.
She was a graduate of Emaus High School, Class of 1948 and then attended Allentown Hospital School of Nursing.
She was outgoing, personable and a true hoot to be with. She took up the game of golf at 60 plus years of age. She and her husband were members of Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown and then Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood. She had two holes-in-one, which she laughed about and said, “you don’t have to be good, just lucky.” Along with taking up golf later in life she got her driver’s license in the early 1970s.
With no accounting background she took care of the books for her husband when he began his construction company, Anthony T. Koneski Inc. and just recently gave up that task which she performed for 40-plus years.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Anthony Jr. and his wife, Marcia, of Zionsville, Michael and his wife, Susan, of Meshoppen, former daughter-in-law, Jane Buonnassisi, of Breinigsville; grandchildren, Leah and her husband, Ivan Alicea, of Bethlehem, Megan and her husband, Steven Barracato, of Philadelphia, Thaddeus and his wife, Emily, of Tunkhannock and Anna Beth and her husband, Tyler Schooley, of Bloomsburg; great-grandchildren, Rex and Alice and Oscar Alicea; several nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. She was predeceased by brothers, William and Donald Urffer and a grandson, Anthony John.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
Arrangements were made by the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
