Steckel Elementary School’s after-school program for third grade starts next month and runs 3:35-4:35 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for 19 sessions. Teacher goals include individualization of instruction and reteaching/reinforcement of skills. It will also focus on basic skills needed for a proficient level of performance in reading and math and organizational skills as time allows.

The ratio of student to teacher is kept at a minimum; therefore, the number of students participating in this program is limited. Placement in the program is based upon teacher recommendation and assessment data.

Learning-from-home attendance procedures should be followed. Students are only considered as learning from home based on communication from a parent/guardian before the start of the school year.

A present designation will apply for students learning from home if the following conditions are met: the student is logged into the class Google Meet/Zoom session during the designated class time and can be clearly identified. For identification purposes, students should have cameras on at all times.

The attendance expectations and policies that follow apply to students who are learning from home, learning traditionally and the hybrid option.

Asynchronous learning days and the attendance policy should be followed. Class meetings through Google Meet/Zoom will be held at designated class times, and daily assignments will be posted in Google Classroom. A present designation will apply for all students if the following conditions are met: the student is logged into the Google Meet/Zoom session during the designated class time, can be clearly identified and completes the assignment for the day.
