April showers might bring May flowers, but what about grass?
In the virtual meeting Jan. 12, the Allen Township Board of Supervisors met to discuss plans for the dog park in 2021 - and more specifically, how to let the grass grow.
The board decided to close the dog park Feb. 16-April 1 to give the grass a chance to grow. It will reopen just in time for the Easter weekend.
These are tentative dates and subject to change, but whatever dates the board chooses, supervisors want the community to know this is for the sake of the grass and not related to issues with dog waste. The township closed the dog park for similar dates in 2020 and saw great success in grass propagation.
The township plans to put up temporary signs and communicate the dates over social media. The dates are unlikely to change, but on the off chance they do, the township plans to communicate this effectively to give enough notice to dog owners.
