Administration notifies of new COVID-19 cases in district

Whitehall-Coplay School District continues to notify families of positive COVID-19 cases in the district.
A Jan. 13 notification informed families of four new student cases and three new staff cases.
Two of the student cases are at Whitehall High School. One was last at school Dec. 18, 2020, and the other is part of the learn-at-home program. The other two student cases are at Zephyr Elementary School. Both were last in school Dec. 22, 2020.
Two of the staff cases are attributed to WHS. One was last in school Dec. 23, 2020, and the other Jan. 8. The third staff case is a member of the transportation department who was last on campus Jan. 8.
A Jan. 14 notification reported nine new student COVID-19 cases.
Four of the cases are at WHS. Three of the high school students are part of the learn-at-home instructional model, and the other student was last in the school building Jan. 12.
Two of the students are from Whitehall-Coplay Middle School. One was last in school Dec. 18, 2020, and the other was last in school Jan. 12.
The other three cases are elementary school students. Two of them are from Steckel Elementary School. One was last in school Dec. 15, 2020, and the other is a learn-at-home student. The final case is a Zephyr Elementary student who was last in the school building Dec. 22, 2020.
A Jan. 15 notification reported an additional case for a WHS learn-at-home student.
The district reported four new student cases Jan. 19. One is a WHS student who was last in school Jan. 13, one is a Steckel student last in school Dec. 18, 2020, and the last two are Gockley Elementary School students who were last in school Jan. 12.
The district will work with Pennsylvania Department of Health to monitor the cases.
Families are encouraged to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and to use the screening card, available on the website at whitehallcoplay.org.
