Salisbury students to begin return to school Jan. 26

At the Salisbury Township School Board meeting Jan. 6 a decision was made to return to face-to-face instruction.

Kindergarten and first grade students will return to Salisbury Elementary School Jan. 26 and grades two through 12 will return to their respective schools Feb. 8. Parents have the option to continue with virtual learning for the rest of the year if they choose.

Salisbury Township schools will not hold classes Jan. 18 for a teacher professional development day.

Can you believe Jan. 26 is the halfway mark of this school year? Wow! In some ways it feels like it went so fast and in other ways it seems like it is taking forever.

Notice to Salisbury residents: Our trash collector, Republic Services, will pick up Christmas trees on your second weekly pickup day during the month of January. Trees over 6 feet will need to be cut in half.

Starting Feb. 1, residents who had Wednesday and Saturday trash pickup days will now have pickup on Monday and Thursday. Monday will be for trash and recycling, Thursday will be only trash.

Electronic and household hazardous waste collection is set to start March 1. Residents will be notified through mail and the township website in the next week or so.

The Environmental Advisory Council will meet 7 p.m. Jan. 20 via Zoom. A recycling workshop with guest speaker Gary Smalley from Republic Services will explain proper recycling, household hazardous waste and electronics collection. Register in advance at www.salisburytownshippa.org.

If you live in Ward 2 of Salisbury Township, the Recreation Advisory Committee is looking for you. There is a vacancy they need to fill for a term of now through January 2026. Those who are interested can find the application on the Salisbury website and submit it with a resume to Township Manager Cathy Bonaskiewich.
