LaMar J. Madtes, 82, of New Tripoli, died Jan. 6, 2021, in Old Forge, N.Y.

He and his wife, Gloria (Bleiler) Madtes, were married 39 years in July 2020.

Born in Lynn Township, he was the son of the late Clayton H. and M. Evelyn (Snyder) Madtes.

He was a mechanic in the Engineering Development and Test Center at Mack Trucks for 30 years.

A member of Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, he was also a member of the Ontelaunee Car Club and enjoyed restoring and collecting cars.

He was also an avid snowmobiler.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Jeff Madtes (Rhonda) of Old Forge, and Kevin Madtes (Mia) of Schnecksville; stepdaughter Mary K. Adams (Jason) of San Antonio, Texas; brother Willard E. Madtes of Tennessee; sister Marian H. Johnson of Orefield; grandchildren Skyler, Ryan, and Henry Madtes, and Lilly and Nathan Adams; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers Paul and Carl.
