Bethlehem Catholic’s basketball team got an appetizer of what it feels like to be back on the court last Friday night, as the Hawks defeated Palmerton 76-63.
It was their first taste of action this new year and first time they played a game in nearly a year, as Ryan Glassmacher had a game-high 28 points to pace the Hawks (1-1) to their first win of the season.
“Friday’s game was a great win,” said head coach Scott McClary. “It felt great to be able to even play the game. We started off hot hitting our first six threes and also holding them scoreless for the first four minutes. From that point forward it was a competitive game.”
McClary also praised Alex Cercado on a night where he had six points, seven assists and zero turnovers.
Edison Gomez also had big night, scoring 21 points for Becahi.
The team gets back on the court this Friday night when they host Easton in their East Penn Conference opener. They’ll then play round two against Easton on the 19th.
“Time to get ready for Friday night and the EPC opener against Easton,” McClary said. “Lot’s of work to do there.”
