Lehigh County Commissioners elected Geoff Brace as the new chairperson of the nine person board in an online meeting Jan. 4.
Commissioner Amy Zanelli at a previous meeting indicated she did not want to retain the title of chairperson and recommended Lehigh County District 4 Commissioner Geoff Brace for the position.
It is not clear what Zanelli’s plans are for the coming year. In spite of online chatter and speculation about her plans, she declined to give a statement to The Press.
In a unanimous vote, commissioners elected Brace to the position which brings with it a $1,000 increase in the $7,000 annual stipend paid to Lehigh County Commissioners.
The Zoom meeting was also attended by Brace’s mother and brother.
District 1 Commissioner Marc Grammes was elected vice chairperson of the board.
Commissioners then set the meeting schedule for 2021.
