Ronald L. “Ron” Neimeyer
Ronald L. “Ron” Neimeyer, 85, of Allentown, died Dec. 28, 2020. He was the loving husband of the late Dolores M. “Dee” Neimeyer, who died May 17, 2020. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Warren W. and Esther M. (Geiger) Neimeyer.
He proudly served in the United States Navy and later joined the Allentown Police Department where he built a 35-year career, serving as patrolman, detective sergeant, lieutenant and director of training at the Allentown Police Academy. After retirement, he served as the sheriff of Lehigh County for eight years and later as sales manager at Altronics Security Systems, where he recently retired.
He was a graduate of Emmaus High School, the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, Intercounty Detective School and the FBI Academy at Quantico, Va. He earned a criminal justice degree from Lehigh Carbon Community College, where he later received the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award. During his extensive law enforcement career, he received many awards including Patrolman of the Year and Police Officer of the Year. He received the Award of Merit from the Minsi Trails Council Boy Scouts of America.
He was a member of New Temple Masonic Lodge #720, Rajah Shrine Temple, Lehigh Consistory (where he received a Meritorious Service Award), Lehigh Valley High 12 Club #493, Lehigh Valley Day Lodge #813 and was Raban of the Clan for Hillbilly Clan #9 where he helped lead fundraising efforts for Shriners Hospitals for Children.
He is survived by sons, Brian and his wife, Rita, of Inlet Beach, Fla. and Glen and his wife, Dawn, of Cornelius, N.C.; a daughter, Linda and her husband, John Alexander, of Pasadena, Calif; grandchildren Amy, Bryan, Dani, Kelly and Victor; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Natalie, Sadie and Thomas.
