H. Glenn Witmer, 96, of Emmaus, died Dec. 20, 2020. He was the husband of Marion (Wagner) Witmer for 73 years. Born in York, he was a son of the late John I. and Clara Witmer.
Devoted to God, family and country, he entered the United States Army Air Corps in January 1943 and survived 35 World War II B-17 combat missions in the European Theatre, earning a Distinguished Flying Cross, an Air Medal with three oak clusters, a Good Conduct medal, as well as five campaign ribbons.
After his military discharge in 1945, he worked as a HVAC technician and later sold cookware. In 1967 he became a ServiceMaster franchisee, building a cleaning and restoration business in Allentown currently operated by his granddaughter, Alexandria Schueck and her husband, Nevin.
He was a longtime member of Faith Evangelical Free Church, Trexlertown, having served variously as an Elder, Deacon and choir member.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Scott, of Allentown; daughters, Pam Bell, of Indialantic, Fla. and Shelley Lavoie, of Emmaus; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Folkenroth, of York. He was predeceased by a daughter, Stacia; two brothers and four sisters.
