Carl L. Lorish

Carl L. Lorish, 85, of Allentown and formerly of Emmaus, died Dec. 25, 2020, in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Gisela (Bier) Thiel-Lorish and the late Merle J. (Nester) Lorish. Born in Hosensack, he was the son of the late Kenneth H. and Sara L. (Gaugler) Lorish.

He honorably served his country in the Navy Reserves for eight years.

He worked at Superior Combustion, Mil-Fred Lanes, The Lehigh Group for 31 years and part time for Glenn Kane Electric for 10 years.

He was a member of Old Zionsville U.C.C., where he was a former elder and past president of church council.

He was a member and past president of the Emmaus Optimist Club and served as a crossing guard for many years.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Diane M. and her husband, Douglas Urffer, of Macungie, Joanne L. and her husband, Robert Emerich, of Landisville and Jennifer L. and her husband, Todd Goudsward, of Harleysville; stepson, Charles Thiel and his wife, Annette, of Allentown; a stepdaughter, Monica Thiel, of Beijing, China; a sister, Millie R. Kohler, of Emmaus; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Florence A. Nester.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
