William F. Deibert Jr.

William F. Deibert Jr., 95, of Allentown, died Dec. 24, 2020, in Lehigh Valley Hospital.

He and his wife, Alma P. (Prior) Deibert, were married for 73 years in August.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late William F. Sr. and Iva F. (Kuhns) Deibert.

He graduated from Allen High School and Muhlenberg College, Class of 1943.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-46 as a corporal with the Army Medical Training Regiment.

He returned home after the war and graduated from the General Motors Institute in Dealer Management and Accounting Program in Flint, Mich.

He met his future wife, the love of his life, while in Michigan.

He was an associate with William F. Deibert, GMC Trucks Inc., 15th and Allen streets, Allentown, and, in 1968, built a new facility at the intersection of Routes 22 and 309.

A member of Muhlenberg College Circle of 1848 and on the Board of Associates, he was on the Lutheran Home at Topton Development Committee and the GMC Trucks Dealer Council.

Past president of the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown, he was a Mason, Shriner, and a member of the Loyal Order of Jesters and Lehigh Consistory. He will be remembered for his banjo playing, fishing with his family at Porter Lake and golfing with friends in the Lehigh Valley and Scottsdale, Ariz.

He had a passion for gardening and his annual “Pumpkin Contest” with his good friend the late Bobby Kuhns.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Linda Lee, wife of Chris Frederiksen, Judith Rae, wife of James Gaumer, Pamela Ann, wife of Michael Borowski; grandchildren Amy, Kelly, James, Michael, Emily and Kelly B.; and sister, Marjorie, wife of Jack Rader.

He was predeceased by sisters Betty Boyer and Jean Plarr.

His memorial service will begin via Zoom 11 a.m. Jan. 2, 2021.
