Catasauqua Area School District has announced a change in its virtual instruction dates. All instruction for students in kindergarten through grade 12 will be virtual during the week of Jan. 4-8, 2021.
Students are expected to return to their regular instructional models Jan. 11, 2021.
CASD experienced significant activity including quarantine- and testing-related absences after the Thanksgiving holiday. While the district reports a very small number of positive student cases resulted, the impact was felt in staffing the programs and the ability to effectively follow Pennsylvania Department of Health’s recommendations.
Parents/guardians and students are encouraged to do the following to help prevent the spread of illness at home and in school: Avoid close contact with people who are sick; wash your hands frequently; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth; stay home when you are sick; cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your elbow when you cough and sneeze; clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces; practice social distancing; and wear a face covering.
Students should remain at home if they are experiencing any of the following signs or symptoms: fever (100-degrees Fahrenheit or greater), cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, lack of smell or taste, sore throat, chills, muscle pain, headache, congestion or runny nose.

Reminder: CASD continues to be on the Christmas and New Year holiday break through Jan. 1, 2021. Instruction will resume Jan. 4, 2021, in an online format.
