Richard T. Molchany
Richard T. Molchany, 87, died Dec. 17, 2020. He was the husband of Helen (Nemeth) Molchany for 63 years.
He was a son of Stephen and Anna (Zadzora) Molchany.
He attended Northampton High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He graduated with an electrical engineering degree from Rider Technical Institute and a management certification from Penn State University.
He was in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense and Service Medals. He was aboard the heavy cruiser USS Baltimore and represented the United States during Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953.
He was a first-class electrician and a mill production manager for 26 years for Martin Marietta Cement. He then directed the import/export of cement at the Lafarge Palm Beach Port Terminal until he retired in 1993.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, Berlinsville, where he performed electrical repairs and general maintenance.
He was a past commander of both Lehigh County Veterans of Foreign Wars and Egypt VFW Post 7293. He assisted Hokendauqua American Legion in placing American flags on fallen veterans grave sites for Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Rick; two daughters, Kathy Ann Minnich with Jack and Lori Lynn Cassium with William; two granddaughters, Ashley Elizabeth Hobel with Carl and Courtney Lynn Cassium; three great-grandchildren, Wilhelmina Ryan, Jude Wilder and Remington Grey; and two sisters, Bernadine Kurzeja and Elaine Molchany.
He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Lori; a grandson, Ryan Richard; three brothers, Edward, Stephen and Bernard; and a sister, Marie.
Services will be private.
