Paul L. Heffner, 91, of Northampton, died Dec. 20, 2020, while in hospice care at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Marguerite (Tassie) Heffner for 65 years.
Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Frank and Anna Heffner.
He was a 1947 graduate of Northampton High School, where he played football, baseball and basketball. He was inducted into the Northampton High School Hall of Fame in 2014.
He was in the U.S. Army.
He was employed by Mack Trucks for 35 years. He was a quarterback and played professional football for the Bethlehem Bulldogs and the Nesquehoning Hurricanes.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Paul J. and his wife Monica of Lower Macungie, Gary and his wife Madeline of Miami Beach and Mark and his wife Tina of Fort Myers; two grandchildren, Eric Heffner and his wife Mariale and Amy Reitz and her husband Nathan; a great-granddaughter, Hayden Patricia; nieces; nephews; and a sister, Helen Mays.
He was predeceased by seven brothers; three sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Heffner.
Services will be private.
