The Jewish Community Center of the Lehigh Valley, Allentown, had planned to hold a community Hanukkah celebration and candle lighting on Dec. 13 at the community center.
However, Gov. Tom Wolfe decided more shut downs were required to hold down new COVID-19 cases.
So instead of having the registrants for the program actually come to the JCC and sit outdoors on the lawn on blankets or sit in their cars to witness the Hanukkah menorah candle lighting, sing Hanukkah songs as they consumed hot cocoa, hot lakes and applesauce, the program was changed to follow the new COVID-19 guidelines.
The community Hanukkah celebration would be presented virtually via Facebook Live.
Hanukkah music was enjoyed, the JCC kids performed and the menorah was lit.
And the latkes, applesauce and hot cocoa was hand delivered to the homes of those who had registered.
