To the Editor:
The election is over, but the craziness about it will last for a long time.
In the Dec. 18 issue of The Press, Susan Bryant lays out a very clear argument that 126 members of Congress broke the law by signing on to a petition to the Supreme Court of the United States to overturn election results in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and hand the presidency to Donald J. Trump.
The law is clear. It has been broken and those responsible should be held responsible for their actions, no matter how they try to double talk their way around the issue. Make no mistake. Had SCOTUS supported their petition, they would have been upfront cheering.
Each certainly has the right to his own opinion, but joining with 118 other Congressman and the Attorney General of Texas to change the result of an election is clearly an act of sedition.
The 126 Congressmen who supported this attempt at a coup need to be called to account. We cannot sit back as the Republican Party has for the last four years and enable those who would denigrate our democracy by violating its laws and standards.
At this point, Ms. Bryant’s response must also be called to account.
