Reminder: Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road, is trying something new this year for Christmas Eve, according to Vicar Tom Busteed, pastor of the church. A drive-thru live nativity experience is being planned.

The family-friendly event, titled “The Christmas Journey,” is set for 3-5 p.m. Dec. 24.

“At the first station, shepherds greet guests while tending live sheep. At the next station, the three wise men are shown in transit to pay homage to the newborn king. Guests will then see Joseph and Mary in the stable with baby Jesus as angels dance for joy. At the next station, the pastor will be available to offer take-home communion elements with a simple set of prayers to be used by the family when sharing the sacrament,” Busteed added.

At the event, collections will be taken for monetary donations and winter-weather socks.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all!

Painting work on First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, 3005 S. Front St., is almost complete, as this recent photo shows. The Rev. Christine Kass, pastor of the church, said, “We are thrilled with the way it looks. There is still a bit of work to be done to finish it up, but it is largely done.” Church members agreed to have foliage, brickote and painting work done on the church. In the spring of 2021, new foliage will be planted as part of the work. A GoFundMe was started to help with the costs. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
