The Great Allentown Fair Foundation recently announced its scholarship awards to students for their 2020-21 academic year.
The foundation will distribute $5,000 in total to four applicants selected by The Great Allentown Fair Foundation’s Scholarship Committee based upon their pursuits of college-level education.
Scholarships and recipients are:
Olivia Theisen, a graduate of Parkland High School, who will be attending St. Francis University, Loretto, to study aquarium and zoo science, has been awarded the Ray Hoffman Memorial Scholarship for Aquarium and Zoo Science ($500).
Ayla Blatt, who will be continuing at Penn State University, University Park, studying animal science and agribusiness management has been awarded the Ray Hoffman Memorial Scholarship ($1,000).
Ian Lee Royer, a graduate of Parkland High School, who will be attending Penn State University, Saucon Valley, to study agriculture science has been awarded The Greenawald Memorial Scholarship ($1,000).
Carrie Spangler, a graduate of William Allen High School, who will be attending Penn State University, University Park, to study agriculture has been awarded The Leon Peters and Barbara Bigelow Scholarship ($2,500 for two years).
“It is vitally important for today’s students to understand the importance of agriculture - there is so much to learn” said Ibolya Balog, foundation scholarship committee chair. “We are thrilled to be able to assist them with the cost of higher education.
“We see this as investment in our students which will pay dividends to our region and to the world.”
